There have, in fact, been numerous court challenges to the draft. In every case, the courts have ruled that it is permissible. But there is no way they can rule that way and remain logically consistent, any more than they can rule that a tax is not a tax or that a woman has a right to murder her child or that forcing citizens to pay tax on their incomes isn’t slavery.

The point is that courts that are supposed to rule based on reason and legal principle do not. They are subject to the same political expediencies everyone else is.

Wrong.
Unless specifically exempted, ALL able bodied men were in the militia. The draft just naturally grew out of that.

Sounds like you may have forgotten to register and required, and now find out you screwed yourself over.

I just don’t understand how anyone can refuse to do their civic duty when called upon.

“Indentured servitude” sounds like slavery and the gimedats wanting restitution.
