Update, from 1 a.m. media briefing:
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the officer was patrolling the neighborhood for a private firm at the time of the shooting. He confirmed that the victim was 18 years old.
Dotson said the officer was in a car when he saw three males and one of them started to run away but stopped. The officer did a U-turn and then all three ran. He drove through streets following them and then chased them on foot. He then got into a physical confrontation with one that escalated into gunfire.
The teenager had a gun and fired at least three shots at the officer, who returned fire, the chief said. The teenager attempted to fire more but his gun jammed, Dotson said.
The officer fired 17 times, he said. It is unclear how many times the teenager was shot.
Police recovered a 9mm Ruger, he said.
Dotson did not identify the 18-year-old but said he "was no stranger to law enforcement."

Relatives who came to the scene, however, said the victim had been unarmed. They identified the victim as Vonderrit Myers Jr., 18

“High school student”. Interesting term. Makes it sound like he was walking home from the after-school chess club. Rioting to begin in 3, 2, 1....

Well, I guess he won’t be making it to his trial on the 17th of November for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest:

there were more cops than protestors. Swat truck rolled up a bit ago and then disappeared after giving order to disperse. Shortly after that ‘hat guy’ (loudmouth causacian) talked to a plainclothes, and the police said they will withdraw the line as long as the protest stays calm. Small mixed crowd continues random taunting as police vehicles withdraw from sight.

Good job!
"Well, I guess he wont be making it to his trial on the 17th of November for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest"
That, right there, is golden.
I immediately wondered how they could possibly headline the perp "victim" as a Teenager and not an "Unarmed Teenager".
Just a sammich? Dayam, son. You left the skittles and watermelon iced tea at the convenience store on the counter next to the box of Swisher Blunts.

“Why’d you shoot him 16 times”?
“Ran out of ammo.”
Well the natives won’t like that for sure!
There goes another wig shop!
If he cared for his sandwich properly it might not have jammed after three rounds.
Reason #234 for magazines with greater than 10 round capacity.
He killed the teen 16 times?
He was only shooting at the officer.....clearly a case of the police jumping to a false conclusion and over reacting because the child was black.
I couldn’t imagine policing these urban toilets; here in NJ they are either deserted or everything is nailed down, so the unassimilated bandits have to raid outside the frontiers of the welfare reservations. In the past couple of weeks we’ve had two justified police shootings (resulting in fatalities) north of me (in Lyndhurst & Paramus NJ), and there is no unrest because those areaas are civilized - the perps (one black, one Hispanic) weren’t “local”. Al $harpton would have to bus in the whole protest-on-wheels (instead of the usual tactic of piggybacking on the angry natives’ sentiment). The taxpaying residents and businesses wholeheartedly support their police in cleaning up the garbage.
My WAG is that the “caring white liberals” who run the media will now not give a damn about black racist thugs and instead start worrying about Ebola. The far left white kooks are going to be off the reservation shouting “racist” but the more centrist ones (they have money) are going to start worrying that ebola is coming to their precious gated communities.
