Yes Reston was a scary episode. Those who were dealing with it were extremely fortunate that it wasn't a more virulent, human-friendly form (like Ebola Zaire) or we would likely have had a devastating outbreak right down the road from a major city - DC no less.
USAMRIID also had control monkeys that contracted Ebola with no physical contact whatsoever, yet we keep hearing you can only contact it via direct contact with an infected individual's body fluids.
