“Lotta stoners on FR it seems.”
Too many.
And they’re aggressive about it, trying to pick silly fights.
I call them Dope Trolls.
“Federal law preempt state joke law real bad. Did you know that? This is a violation of FEDERAL law!! IT WILL GO DOWN!!”
I don’t know. I think we’re entering a new era of increased federalism and eventually we might find that the commerce clause, which is a travesty, will be cut back severely. There people both on the left and the right that you’re getting tired of an overbearing central government.
You do know most people with medical pot cards are using it as an excuse to SMOKE weed, right? I happen to know a lot of them here in Cali. and the medical excuse is a complete joke to all of them.
Now that marijuana is legal (with a few conditions) in WA state, some of us are NOT looking forward to stoned drivers, teachers, doctors, husbands, wives, etc because we KNOW the stuff is dangerous.
Does it have to be smoked? I’ve heard that as it is an herb, tinctures, glycerites, teas, salves, etc. are also effective ways of getting the herbal properties into your body.
Many people do not believe that herbal remedies are at all effective, but I’ve used them and they have worked. My son had a nasty case of impetigo, the prescription cream was over $50 for a half ounce tube. Knowing that it would probably spread to the other kids I went to the natural foods store to see if they knew of anything that worked & I bought Pau d’ Arco cream. It worked very well. I had the herb on hand already so also made a salve to have on hand during wrestling season. It has worked every time and has saved us hundreds of dollars.
I figured that out by myself when I was just eighteen. I put the stuff down then, and have never touched it since. That's been over forty years ago.
No, just thinkers. We tend to acquire data, judge the sources, form a hypothesis, which is subject to revision, based on new data.
Then, there are people like you.
Drinking alcohol isn’t harmless.
Being fat isn’t harmless.
Driving distracted (cellphones) isn’t harmless.
Going uneducated isn’t harmless.
Using tobacco isn’t harmless.
Life isn’t harmless.
The studies were not completed, the twenty years just about coincided with the legalization. That doesn’t mean that authorities didn’t know the truth, though. The government had already been funding work in neuroscience to help ameliorate the damage done to the cognitive abilities of teen by army marijuana use.
What isn’t clear is why no work has been done to set limits on on the levels of the drug that that qualifies as under the influence. Large companies, which value safety, maintain a zero tolerance for marijuana use. Some even require a hair sample for the pre-employment physical.

As I understand it, herbs cannot be patented so there isn’t the huge profit margin that pharmaceutical companies have when a drug is first released. That may be part of the pushback against an herb that can be beneficial for pain relief.
“At a minimum that stuff must really tar up a persons lungs and cause cancer.”
It can be eaten instead of smoked, so not necessarily any lung involvement. The only study I’ve seen that addressed cancer concluded that it’s actually anti-carcinogenic, even when smoked. That stumped the researchers.
Anyhow, I agree this article is mostly inaccurate.
Maybe they are, I suspect you’re right. I was just saying that it does have a use for medical reasons and it seems to work rather well in the case I cited.
That’s about the extent of my experiences around it, never touched it myself, it just never appealed to me at all.
If you have a glass of wine now and then when you dine out does that make you a drunk?
I don’t know who “you people” are. I was just thinking about the Little Debbie snack I eat way too often.
“lighten up francis, I was trying to be nice,
It appears you do not know the difference anyway and are out driving around lookin for something sucking on your Apple pacifier”
Ouch! Actually I prefer the droid Samsung Fascinate but my wife and two girls are all on iPhones and I like to leverage their iTunes library and if I have an iPhone it makes it easier to assist them when they invariably ask me how to do something. I am also a little Leary of the Google overlords.
Chips Ahoy for me!
Well that's part of the problem. Once you accept the premise that we have to pay for their health care, then you can legislate control of about just any human behavior.
