9 days to first sign of symptoms, another 10-11 to death.

Typically 2 to 21 days until symptoms (incubation), then 7-10 to death or recovery. Duncan is either sitting up drinking bullion now or he is getting futile transfusion after transfusion.

I can't but remember freepers not voting for Romney or not voting or voting third party......someone told me also that in her conservative Christian church she was shocked how many people didn't vote for Romney because he was a Mormon....

evil has played tricks on normally right thinking people and we have disasterous results because of it...

It seems some people on FR are heavily invested in the world dying of Ebola.

No, it is fair to say that a passenger from Liberia has a fair chance of having ebola. It might be small "on average" but any one person could be the next Mr. Duncan with 100% certainty. It is also fair to say that we don't know very much about the puking Newark passenger, but that the rest of the passengers have not been quarantined and it would be reckless to not quarantine if the guy was positive. We could argue the feds don't care and might cover it up, but the local health officials would probably not go along with that.

The bottom line is the Newark passenger is (1) free of Ebola or (2) has been zipped off to a secret FEMA quarantine facility or dumped into a mass grave or released into NYC with subway tokens. I'm going with (1).

"There is a growing group of folks who believe that the earth cannot support the current population approaching 7.3 billion. The bulk of them are in the same leftist camp as those now directing the present halfhearted “effort” against Ebola. Many of them are one and the SAME people directing the Ebola thing! The most radical of them embrace the words of a speaker at an early green movement/save-the-earth rally in California. Odd coincidence that, aye? He declared that “Man is the ultimate DISEASE of nature.” He got a standing O for that line!"

I may not be a conspiracy nut, but I have no doubt there are those who view the Ebola threat as a means to trim the human "disease" on this planet. To them it is a pathway to Utopia where humans will infect their self-absorbed lives with the least amount of impact. These are self-centered people who think they can use government to minimize the impact of other people through population control. To them the minimal population is the ideal. That is why I call them the Culture of Death.

I thought perhaps you had some inside information. An expert on emerging infectious/contagious diseases was just on Fox. He stated that it takes a minimum of 2 days for it to “cook” and precautions should be taken as if it was Ebola.

That’s my question, how are they 100% sure after such a short time? I thought perhaps you had some inside info or had read an article giving more details.

Went to a wedding in Dallas this morning. Lots of traffic at 10:30 going INTO Dallas. Church parking lots we passed were all full and people out and about everywhere. Doesn’t seem like anyone is panicking and for sure in the northern suburbs NO ONE is. The supermarkets are stocked full and even the cleaning aisles aren’t low on bleach. Just life as usual as far as I can tell.

Kind of surreal around here.

There isn’t much business going to and from East Africa.

West Africa. East Africa is Kenya, the Dear Leader's birthplace so people will be required to make a pilgrimage there.

how are they 100% sure after such a short time?

They aren't. They probably took his temperature, saw it was normal and decided he vomited due to air sickness. Being from Liberia makes that diagnosis a little risky, but they are taking risks letting more and more Liberians fly here. They don't care about the risk.

As for waiting 2 to 21 days, that doesn't really apply. You get infected which is step 1, then you incubate with no symptoms for 2 to 21 days. Then you vomit, bleed from the eyeballs, die, etc.

A Liberian doctor is 13 for 15 using lamivudine, which is normally used to treat HIV and hepatitis-B. The two losses received the drug later in their illness than the survivors.

Lamivudine is old enough that it is off patent.

The French are on top of the problem. That does not say much about the Obola Administration. Obola would rather play golf. The clock can’t tick fast enough to get this disease on the political landscape expunged.

Just Google “Newark Ebola” ... There are a couple of dozen articles about the Newark thing NOT being Ebola.

It seems some people on FR are heavily invested in the world dying of Ebola

******************************************************
I have read several articles on the Newark incident. So far none have explained how it could be so quickly determined with 100% certainty that it is not Ebola.

Also, if there is one thing I know about the media, first reports are often later found to be inaccurate.

I certainly hope you are not including me in that last sarcastic remark. I am only interested in taking an ounce of prevention, instead needing a pound of cure. That could prevent further exposures, needless deaths, and certainly less angst.

I wish you RINOs would give it a rest. Conservatives don’t vote for socialist libs of either party. Romney was a disastrous result of the GOP elite establishment. He stayed home and decided not to campaign against Obama. So we had no reason to decide to support him.

The problem with Ebola is that it dismantles the human immune response as it takes over the human body. There needs to be a mechanism developed that protects the immune system while alerting it that the virus is present. This type of technology should be available at the CDC. If it is not, what would they do if some other biological agent were used against our population in a bio terror attack? Play Halloween in bio suits?
