Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., a licensed physician and a possible presidential candidate in 2016, is warning that handling Ebola in a politically correct manner will rebound.
In an interview with radio talk show host Laura Ingraham, he said decisions such as keeping travel open from Africa and sending soldiers to fight Ebola “have been dominated by political correctness.”
“Because of political correctness, we’re not making sound, rational, scientific decisions on this,” he said.
Joinging the program by telephone from the campaign trail for Republicans, he started with a quip.
“I can’t believe that you don’t think it’s enough of a plan to prevent worldwide pandemic to cough into your elbow,” he told Ingraham. “Surely that should stop a worldwide pandemic.”
He noted the diseased, diagnosed this week for the first time in the U.S., remains out of control in West Africa after killing more than 3,300.
He pointed out the head of the Centers for Disease Control just a month ago said there was no need to limit travel from Africa to New York, saying, “This will never come to the U.S.,” and, “We know what we are doing. Trust us.”
“I think we should not underestimate the transmissibility of this,” Paul said. “Think about the people who are getting this the doctors and nurses who are gloved, gowned and masked.”
He said there are “people getting it who simply helped someone get in and out of a taxicab.”
“So it’s a big mistake to underestimate this,” he said.

According to Paul, you are putting him "in too small of a box" on abortion.
From the CNN transcript.
BLITZER: So, just to be precise, if you believe life begins at conception, which I suspect you do believe that, you would have no exceptions for rape, incest, the life of the mother, is that right?
PAUL: Well, I think that once again puts things in too small of a box. What I would say is that there are thousands of exceptions. You know, Im a physician and every individual case is going to be different, and everything is going to be particular to that individual case and whats going on with that mother and the medical circumstances of that mother.
BLITZER: Well, it sounds like you believe in some exceptions.
PAUL: Well, theres going to be, like I say, thousands of extraneous situations where the life of the mother is involved and other things that are involved.
So, I would say that each individual case would have to be addressed and even if there were eventually a change in the law, lets say, the people came more to my way of thinking, its still be a lot of complicated things that the law may not ultimately be able to address in the early stages of pregnancy that would have to be part of what occurs between the physician and the woman and the family.
I remember that, and the true believers that it was real.
He talking about the medical procedures that accompany ‘life of mother’. It could be cancer, it could be after a car accident, it could be other illness (ebola?), etc., etc.
Yours was not a personal attack?
You are mentally ill!
You rave like a moron on every thread, and then accuse others of attacking you.
.
The man is running for president and was asked about abortion.
Do you really think that he was saying all that to the TV public as a statement of his being unequivocally pro-life?
Evolve, adapt or die. That is the fate of our current Republican party. We must evolve as a party and find a way to attract millennials to the conservative movement or we will never succeed in realizing our ideals of individual freedom and freedom from government interference.
I think that the Republican Party, in order to get bigger, will have to agree to disagree on social issues, Paul advised. The Republican Party is not going to give up on having quite a few people who do believe in traditional marriage. But the Republican Party also has to find a place for young people and others who dont want to be festooned by those issues.
Don’t confuse your jumping on threads repeatedly to personally attack me, with us saying something about presidential candidates.
It is fair to point out to you that my list of candidates goes:
Acceptable
Cruz
Sessions
Perry
Palin (but she’s not running)
Then Moderately Acceptable
Walker
Kasich
Pence
Not acceptable
Romney
Christie
Ryan
Graham
Huckabee
Nobody ever attacks you.
Pointing out your obvious stupidity is not an attack, it is an informational post.
.
I thought the topic was whether Paul was pro-abortion or not, but thanks for sharing your list.
You have become quite the stalker, but I have no idea what thread in some distant past set you off.
No, the topic was whether Doctor Paul should have insight into Ebola that would qualify him to say the government is not being honest.
Somehow we got diverted on abortion and how bright he is.
I wanted to point out that he’s not my presidential candidate.
So, since this article is about Ebola — mostly — then getting back on track, allow me to say that Obama Lies. (Which I think you’ll agree with.)
You are mentally ill!
Nobody is stalking you; you rave on every thread.
You might check your recent posting history.
First you defended him against my saying he was an idiot about his military statement, and then you started trying to defend him as solidly pro-life with his only exception being life of the mother.
Paul is an idiot and made a silly statement, and he is pro-abortion.
I take it you don’t live in an urban area, where keeping 3-6’ distance from strangers just isn’t possible.
I have to integrate with humanity like the rest of us but, what does it matter?
If the Spanish Flu could kill people in towns remote and of less than 200, it has to have a medium for transmission.
Sneeze Cough Spread.
Ebola is exactly like MRSA and can only be spread by contact with an infected persons bodily fluids.
“keep your hands to yourself, wash everything down.”
It can survive on dry surfaces for at least 5 days.
So the doorknob, the grocery cart, the jar of peanut butter that someone picked up but put back on the shelf... and now is in your cart. Etc.
It could be coming at you from a thousand directions if this spreads.
Is your thinking that black and white?
The Spanish flu was airborne at a time of much lesser communications (and state control).
Ebola is only “airborne” for a yard or two—enough to do plenty of damage.
YES!!!
And so can Staph and MRSA.
We Are Not Dropping Over Dead from either!
NO.
It’s not.
