Man with Ebola flew roundabout trip to US (on Brussels, United Airlines)

The first reported case of Ebola in the United States is spooking airline investors and raising the prospect that some frightened travelers might stay home despite repeated reassurances from public-health experts.

Details of the man's 28-hour trip from western Africa emerged Wednesday. He flew on two airlines, took three flights, and had lengthy airport layovers before reaching Texas on Sept. 20.

Still, federal officials say other passengers on the flights are at no risk of infection because the man had no symptoms at the time of his trip.

Thomas Eric Duncan left Monrovia, Liberia, on Sept. 19 aboard a Brussels Airlines jet to the Belgian capital, according to a Belgian official. After layover of nearly seven hours, he boarded United Airlines Flight 951 to Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C. After another layover of nearly three hours, he then flew Flight 822 from Dulles to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the airline confirmed.

Anyway, how is our favorite patient doing? Any updates on his condition? Has the White House decided whether or not to let him live? Seems that it will make a big difference in the future course of the virus.

Cynical as I can be, that was one of my first thoughts when I heard about the Dallas case.

I wouldn’t put it past the liberal DemocRats.

Anything for power, and to them, lots of dead Americans is a good thing.

It’s what they call social justice and economic justice.

I’m confused about the timeline and the claims about it not being communicable until symptoms show.

If there is a possible second ebola patient in Dallas (read about on another thread today, don’t know if confirmed) who is already showing symptoms (who caught it from Duncan), then WHENwould that 2nd patient have been exposed? They keep assuring us that Duncan wasn’t infectious until showing symptoms just a few days ago, but I thought there is an incubation period. Which means the other person exposed caught it several days earlier during the supposedly still “safe” timeframe. Or else this is an extremely fast incubating version of the virus that goes from exposure to symptoms in just a few days.

“Her brother, Sonny Boy, 21, started getting sick about a week ago, his family said, around the same time that Mr. Duncan first started showing symptoms”

A week ago would be around the 24th but he didn’t seek medical treatment til the 26th. After seeing her die, he must have known. Interesting the article states “about a week ago” but not a specific date.

Didn’t Obama lift all restrictions on flights to the US from Liberia, recently?

And went to a Dallas hospital, only to be sent home for 3 more days of spreading it around -

But heaven forbid we put a temporary lock down on flights from the ebola ridden countries for a bit-

Days before getting on the plane - he handled a dying ebola patient - with no protection. And was allowed to climb on a plane - should have been in quarantine.

The question begs - do they REALLY want to contain this - or is this part of the DE-population plan...

Then too - if we have an outbreak - WE may be on lock down - ‘Sorry - no election...M. Law.”

Is it true that no symptoms = no communicability? I doubt this is true. It doesn’t work that way for other viral illnesses such as influenza.

Two words...

that airplane subsequently went to Ohare (where united is based from) for a likely cleaning and maintenance visit.

It is questionable if it got any maintenance...but maybe they have improved over the years.

For all those who say Freepers are overreacting about Ebola, please read what this WP reporter is saying. Apparently, our concerns are valid, as he just returned from Africa.

And does anyone think this guy would tell anyone that he felt sick and be denied boarding or admittance?

Still, federal officials say other passengers on the flights are at no risk of infection because the man had no symptoms at the time of his trip.

How can they be sure? Did he have any sense at all that he might be coming down with something, but needed to wait to see if it would develop? When does Ebola become even potentially transferable?

We are being lied to from every front and it cannot end well if we aren't every bit as up to date as those who spew the lies. We have no reason to put our lives in their incompetent, tell any lie to cover their own ass, hands.

how do they think American volunteers who contracted the disease if not airborne? They said they took every precaution and still got the disease. We are already dealing with d-68. Looks like Mr. Duncan? was determined to bring EBOLA here.
