Just heard on the radio (WBAP) that a family member of the man with Ebola is now sick with the stuff.

Like I said.....that word “it” can be the biggest and most hyperbolic word.
Dallas is a very populous area....lot’s of people..very spread out though as is common in the west and mid west. So it should be interesting to watch, assuming we get accurate reporting, how they read the chain of actual contacts, probable contacts, potentials and unlikely..
All would be handled differently but all would be interviewed. The probable quarantined, the possible placed on surveillance, and interviews vetted for truth using whatever other data they have, like camera’s, witnesses...whatever..
Let’s see how big that word “it” really is..when “it” faces reality and is confronted with the real as opposed to the imagined.

Nothing could be further from the truth. All elective surgeries have ceased - not even routed to different hospitals. If patients did there pre-surgery labs on campus they will now be delayed 21 additional days and have to retest. That’s got to tell you something.

IMHO, one of the worst hospitals in the area to handle this..

If you were inside the hospital within the last 7 days, you are not a candidate for elective surgery there or at any hospital for 21 days.
CDC has confiscated ALL lab samples and taken them to Atlanta so tests will have to be done again.

As a rule I consider almost everything I was not present to witness as gossip.
But no - some of this info is regarding an upcoming surgery that was to take place tommorow and is now canceled.

Obviously came into contact with a sick family member or contacted the previously shed virus from a surface, taxi cab, hotel or private bedroom...whatever..

What’s the incubation period for Ebola?
The time from infection with the virus to the onset of symptoms ranges from two to 21 days. During this time the patient is not infectious. Ebola spreads by contact with the sick patients body fluids.
20th Sept. arrived U.S.
Day 0+ (assumes he was not actively infected but may have been thus the +. He was a carrier at this time but may not have been infectious)
24th Sept. presented to ER symptomatic and released with antibiotics on the tax payer’s dime (he is not a citizen and lives in Section 8 housing)
Day 4+ He is now actively infectious. Assuming he was exposed before the flight he became infected as late as Sept. 20 and as early as Sept. 3. For at least the last two days, since Sept. 22, it is possible he has been sick and infectious.
28th Sept. presented to ER and admitted for testing
Day 8+
30th Sept. Ebola confirmed
Day 10+
1 Oct. patient two rumored, if this was the first day of symptoms the patient could not have been infected less than 2 days ago but not more than 11 days ago.
Day 11+
Why wouldn’t it be prudent to assume that Patient #1 was capable of infecting others when he boarded the flight on which he arrived in Dallas on Sept. 20? Why, with something that is 50 to 90% fatal would anyone want to split hairs about the possible date of capability to spread the disease within a population as mobile as the one in the United States?
We’ve gotten lots of calls from uneasy people today. .and the hospital I work at is in Florida!!
And we did get another email! Blah -blah. .nothing to worry about. .
Wondering if CDC was citing Patriot Act as providing authority for these actions.

All signals today are that liberal PC, protecting Obama & Feds from accountability/culpability and politics are all that matter to our government and media. I am going to prepare for the worst based on those pervasive signals alone now. If that is what is driving the response and reporting, we are truly in trouble!
Hate to sound like a nutter or alarmist, but being only 20 miles from patient zero has heightened my spidey sense to say the least. I am no where near being fully prepared anymore either. Part of me wants to ignore it all and jump on the nothing to worry about train...but instinctually I know better.
