Romney on 2016: “We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race. We’ll see what happens.”

Scout’s honor: Not until today, having read the words of the man himself, have I sincerely believed he might run again. The RomneyWatch™ posts are fun to write but not because Mitt 2016 was a real thing — I thought. They were fun because it wasn’t a real thing. It was a way to collectively pretend-scare ourselves, like playing with a ouija board.

Now, suddenly, I look down and the planchette is moving by itself. And it spells M-I-T-T.

A recent column by the conservative pundit Byron York noted that Romney had kept in close contact with many of his advisers and aides. As we spoke, Romney compared the barrage of 2016-related questions to a scene in the film “Dumb and Dumber.” After Jim Carrey’s character is flatly rejected by Lauren Holly, she tells him that there’s a one-in-a-million chance she would change her mind. “So,” Romney told me, embodying the character, “Jim Carrey says, ‘You’re telling me there’s a chance.’ ”

This was the obvious opening for me to ask if there was a chance. Romney’s response was decidedly meta — “I have nothing to add to the story” — but he then fell into the practiced political parlance of nondenial. “We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.”

If the GOP winds up with a Romneyesque candidate, the Demonrats WILL beat his/her ass. That’s a guarantee. If the GOP wants our votes, it will have to nominate someone worth electing. We don’t vote Republican or a smidgeon less liberal but only vote for conservatives. The GOP can nominate conservatives or LOSE.

Voice can often be taught. Radio personalities and announcers often receive professional training in voice and it does not take that long. Don’t apologize for talking about her voice. You are right to observe that these things can make a difference. Remember the efforts of Professor Henry Higgins with Liza the Cockney Flower Girl in My Fair Lady? It IS doable.

Let him get in. Jeb is already in. They are going after the same 30% of the GOP vote.

I remain undecided because we don’t know what conservatives are running. I have seen Cruz and Walker in action, I believe I understand their principles and could support either one. I could easily support Sarah Palin as well despite what I believe is a weakness in her presentation. Bobby Jindal I heard for the first time on the Values Voters Summit videos and I was impressed. He is a possibility as well.

There are plenty of good conservatives to vet but they have to announce before that will happen. I just hope the same pig headedness that gave us Romney does not repeat itself.

The only way a GOPe candidate can win is if we repeat the divisiveness of the previous primaries, shoot each other because we are being stubborn and give the Romneyesque candidate the majority he needs because we have so split and damaged ourselves. Romney battered his strongest rival and I suspect many watched because they knew it was benefiting their campaign.

We need conservatives in the primaries that are willing to back out for the sake of the country rather than continue a lost cause to inflate their egos.

He won't have 4 million stay home this time, hell have 8 million, and loose the House and Senate, especially to the Clinton / Warren ticket.

What is it about power and politican's that they need the Vaudvillian Cane metaphorically put around their necks and yank them off the stage and go back to the plow like our founders wanted? Clinton is a prime example, Jimma Carter too.

Grow prize winning roses, restore and old car, do something with your time that takes your mug off the boob-tube, enough already....

Well, Romney can do whatever he wants. But I know one thing for sure: I won’t be voting for the queer lover.

I disagree, we haven’t nominated anyone with conservative credentials since 1984 so how would we know?

We had Bush41 run on Reagan’s record and promptly toss it away with his kinder gentler crap and a huge tax increase. Dole was the poster boy for GOPE congressional produced mush. Bush 43 ran on his compassionate conservative BS and scrapped by and I mean scrapped by, mainly because Gore and Kerry were insufferable but he was no raging conservative. Then we get McIsain, what is there to say about this lunatic, but if you hadn’t had Palin on the ticket his humiliation would have been even worse. Then another GOPE handpicked poodle Romney who couldn’t even beat Carter II!

The GOPE is the reason why we keep getting mush for nominees, Reagan controlled the party for 8 yrs. and they hated every minute of it and no doubt many vowed they would never relinquish that power again and haven’t. They control all the levers of power in the Party and those who think you can take over the GOP from within are smoking something they probably shouldn’t be, it’s not going to happen.

Republican primary voters have repeatedly, including 2014, placed their trust in the GOP-e. We must be awaiting a disaster no matter how the elections turn out.

So who in 2012 was inflating the ego, Santorum or Newton Gingrich?

So if you are in TX, are you sitting out the races for land commissioner and U.S. senator?

Newton Gingrich did a good job handling the moderators in the 2012 “debates”. It just did not translate into that many votes though.

I admit that I would vote for Jeb’s kid and always against the pathetic Cornyn. Are there third parties in the Senate race? If not, there is always write-in. I do have two daughters down there. I should ask them. One makes me look like a raving liberal.
