“Gluten”. Don’t get me started.

I've been told that peanut butter is forbidden at many schools. I don't remember a single kid getting sick from peanut butter when I was growing up.

I don’t either. “Celiac disease” is another one.

There’s a pretty good theory about that: that thanks to kids being more sheltered these days, with parents overdoing it with antibacterial soap, and wipes and hand cleanser that kids immune systems aren’t developing properly.

So, not having anything to work against, the immune systems find stuff to attack. Like peanut products.
