When Khatami spoke those things I mentioned, it was from his heart. Well, you must know his heart, and that has no relevance.
Who do you think picks who is on the Council of Guardians? It’s all about loyalty to the Ayatollah.
Khatami uttered many such things, and not out of political expediencehe was not holding political office in 2009. Denying that it was from his heart is denying reality; he didn’t get to be an Ayatollah by being in any way moderate.
But, we aren't talking about some other Other political party. In IRI there is only Islamic Republic bound by the Velayat-e Faghih constitution. All and any political party, moderate or hardline, are only FACTIONS, not political parties. But, within them there are those who on some issues take a more moderate stance, within the boundaries of the overall IRI. That's what I was talking about.
No, they’re reported to be taking “moderate stances” by the liberal media when in reality they never do. Just like how the liberal press treats Mahmoud Abbas.
I’m not interested in liberal media, nor other ones, since I think they are pretty much different ends of the same continuum.
Funny how you are “not interested in liberal media” but you are parroting their propaganda.
Explain re propaganda
“It’s the government, not the people”, “X is a moderate”, “X only wants peace” ad nauseam.
Lol, ok, my posts here are quite clear. I think you need to learn lot more about mullahs’ politics, after 35 years it would serve Israel well too to take action beyond tit for tat with the mulllahs. But I think you already know that too.
Us too, since we are the “Great Satan” in their eyes and thus the primary target. There are no “moderates”.
They like “Little Satan” even more ;) have a good day :)
~Its the government, not the people, X is a moderate, X only wants peace ad nauseam.~
You can expand this viewpoint too far. What about American democrats? Why won’t the rest of the world view America like it is all-democrat plantation and ignore anyone else as far as the Democrats hijacked political processes?
~Us too, since we are the Great Satan in their eyes and thus the primary target. There are no moderates.~
Yep, true. There are no conservatives in US as well, since GOP is gutless to stand to liberals and the majority a RINOs anyway. True or not?
Bottom line is you can’t judge different societies using the same measure.
Totalitarian and authoritarian-dominated societies have their ways. They are immune to a direct external pressure, opened dissent including unrests and revolts - all the things needed to control out of limit governments as naively believed by some idealist Americans (who on the other hand never really tried this). Indeed, most (but not every) of the regimes has numerous healthy powers underneath. To put them all in one boat with the regimes is actually your collaboration with the tyrant regimes because it actually cuts any support from these groups.
Yes, in some societies there are no alternatives to the ruling class, but neocons are destabilizing that regimes claiming there are some ‘moderates’ which is not true.
In other situation, when we are dealing with more complex and diverse societies, we hear ‘they are all the same, screw them, let Lord sort them out’.
So, in Arab nations they are leaders, not the people to blame, and for Russia or Iran people are as guilty. All of these despite the fact that it is people who are chopping heads in Libya and the government was a single party capable to restrain it, but in Iran it is government which torturing the people, and in Russia no heads are chopped at all.
This misconception is so common that I somehow refuse to explain it as a blunder anymore. Maybe the chaos and destruction is a goal?
And if you really think that anyone who might disagree with a government but not crazy enough to jump under a tank on the square, why won’t you grab a gun and jump over the WH fence?
Maybe following your own logic you are an Obammunist as far as you are tolerating a government abuse? Isn’t it too much already. And the GOP are traitors too?
Very relativistic outlook, that.
You are predictable, Olog-hai, I have expected exactly that response.
Funny part is that you are expecting these foreigners to act ‘American’ and at the same time rejects their relativeness to all merits considered American by your book. You rightfully recognize American society as a combination of different struggling groups, but these foreigners are all solid alien life form to you. In Middle East they are all muzzies, in Russia or China they are all commies. In India they are another filthy thing following your beliefs and so on.
Eh? Why the exercise of putting words in other people’s mouths? I said nothing of what you presume I did; the opposite in fact.
Perhaps you should find another forum to troll. You seem incompatible with this one.
I know why are you saying this. I’ve touched a string of political correctness in your soul, you don’t want to look ‘rasis’ and wants me to shut up. That is why exactly what I was talking about. So ‘conservative’ of you to shut down any opposition!
On the other hand, let’s put this personal things aside.
What have people in ‘primitive’ societies do to make human enough by your book? Tell concrete, not abstract steps so I won’t accidentally misenterprete it.
Let’s see . . . I’ve posted an article about the barbarism in Iran’s Twelver society and you don’t seem to like that fact. So you are now clutching at straws to accuse me of thinking of the woman being hanged as some kind of barbarian? LOL!
Lol. Olog-hai, I love you! You have just accused me of putting words to your mouth and now are doing exactly the same.
Lol. Olog-hai, I love you! You have just accused me of putting words to your mouth and now are doing exactly the same.
Eh? No; that’s an extrapolation based on what you’re saying to me, and based on the subject of the post. One example of your putting words in my mouth is the epithet “muzzie” which I never use.
You can go back to the Kremlin to get more talking points now. But before you do, I’d like to know whose side you are on: the woman or the Mullahs.
