Not only that, but the Martha and the Vandellas tune “Heat Wave” was the precursor to all of this. And when you really, really think about it, the Vandellas WERE climate change. Martha Reeves, Bettey Kelly, Sandra Jackson, all of them; they started it, they triggered it. With their Motown hits “Dancin’ in the Streets” (obviously because the primitive air conditioning units of the mid-60’s would not cool things down sufficiently. What started as an innocent poke turned into a genuine worldwide catastrophe by the time “Nowhere to Run” was released.
