I do agree with you in general. But I did say a lot, not all, or most.

Another consideration is the educational and skill level of our workforce. If we could bring back those all jobs over the next year, do we have a sufficiently sized workforce capable of performing those jobs?

I suggest that, for multiple reasons, the quality of our workforce has declined and is declining. An educational system that is cranking out generations of functional illiterates is a very large obstacle.

There is a large population of working age people who are now, for all practical purposes, unemployable. Regardless of potential job availability. I have a 26 yo niece that has never done anything for more than a couple of weeks at a time. She did not graduate from HS. No one in their right mind would hire her. She is representative of a large number of people in her age group.

Those negatives aside, if the jobs came back, I think that the need for qualified labor would drive the improvements necessary to upgrade the quality of labor, to some degree. But that would/will take decades & require a significant swing in the mindset of American society.

Valid point.

But the question I have regards the available workforce.

We have a scary number of people below 30 who, for a practical purposes, have never been genuinely employed. How many of these people are interested in working, would show up every day? Even low skill jobs require a desire to work, dependability and an interest in doing a good job regardless of the complexity of the duties.

My father always said that any work was honorable if you were willing to do your best and have pride in that effort. I’m not sure there’s much of that around.

I agree.

I know many who NOW think eight hours a day, five days a week is too much. (And...are proud of that view.)

Bring back jobs right here.

Actively. Bring jobs home.

We've already followed all of your recommendations.

They're not back yet?

I’m not sure if what you’re seeing is representative.

America has 93,000,000 people now unemployed. That is a whole huge bunch of people out of work.

We need more jobs.
