‘Don’t be mad': Michelle O defends lunch rules in classroom broadcast

WASHINGTON, D.C. – First Lady Michelle Obama took to the airwaves Friday in a Channel One interview beamed into thousands of school classrooms to an estimated 5 million students across America.

The-First-Lady-on-Lunch-262x175The Hill reports:

First lady Michelle Obama said it was “natural” that kids are “grumbling” over new requirements for schools to fill vending machines and lunch lines with healthier food, but that it would not deter her from improving child nutrition.

According to a transcript provided on the Channel One website, Obama said, “I know kids are grumbling because they have to make changes. Trust me, my kids roll their eyes at me every time I tell them ‘you know you don’t have to finish your diner, but you have to finish your vegetables.’ But I know that I’m doing it because I’m giving my kids the best that I know I can give them.”

The First Lady made it clear she’s not backing down: “Don’t be mad because there are changes. Figure out why the changes are important, and then find out how you make it work for you.”

You know, my kids like broccoli, celery, carrots – those kind of vegetables that have a little flavor, sweetness to it. And I would encourage kids to go over to those salad bars and just try a mixture of things, because sometimes if you mix a bunch of things up and you chop it up, the whole combination sounds pretty good.

The interview didn’t offer any push back the overhaul to the National School Lunch Program on behalf of students.

Whole grains are healthier than refined grains in exactly the sense that filtered cigarettes are healthier than unfiltered cigarettes.

Yes, sugar is unhealthy, but wheat is worse.

Kids need fat.

Nancy Reagan was endlessly ridiculed by the Left and the their sycophantic Media because she came up with the “Just Say No” program to keep children away from Illicit Drugs.

The Moose thinks she is the new Food Pyramid, well maybe her Ass would engulf it, and all she gets is glowing praise because she cares about the helpless little tykes whose Parents have no idea how to feed them...

You just can’t make this stuff up.

She doesn’t have a degree in nutrition which verifies that she does not know that babies and young children need fat!

Infants, Toddlers Should Not Restrict Fat Intake, Experts Say
Date:
February 4, 1998
Source:
Purdue University
Summary:
Butter can be more nutritious than low-fat yogurt. An egg is more nutritious than broccoli. At least that's true for many infants and toddlers, and even children as old as 5 years, all of whom may need more fat in their diets than adults, two nutritionists say. And MO told her chef to stop using butter! she knows zip about nutrition.

One of the best things I ever learned! Babies need a certain amount of fat for their brains to develop properly. I suspect the ‘Progressives’ don’t want an intelligent populace........not easy enough to control.

Yes they do . And, so do we.

Boost Your Fat Intake to Save Your Brain

Two-thirds of the human brain is made up of fats. So when you don't get enough good, healthy fat in your diet, the levels of fatty acids in your brain become imbalanced, and you can wind up suffering from hyperactivity, depression, or, according to a new study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, cognitive decline.

The study’s authors looked at the dietary histories of 482 women over the age of 60 and put them through a series of cognitive tests. They found that women who had a higher intake of monounsaturated fatty acids—those found in olive oil, avocadoes, nuts, and some types of fish—suffered less cognitive decline over the course of the three-year study than women with low to no monounsaturated fat intake. The difference was particularly marked in the areas of memory and in visual-spatial recognition.

The students should tweet themselves with signs that say “Bring back our lunches!”

You know, I really think that also. I pray that I did not harm my children by restricting the fats. I am sure you have heard Limbaugh say that his mother hid the butter in the refrigerator and butter was only server during family holiday dinners. Happily, our family only buys butter while our FLOS restricts its use.

You speak God's truth. Too bad it will take the rest of society and many of the stridently nostalgic on this board 50 years to figure it out.

- Fat doesn't make you fat, sugars/carbs do.

- Cholesterol is manufactured by your internal organs.

- Finely processed grains and sugars are blood poison and offer little to no nutritional value.

This elitist wench and the goons at the FDA should be in jail for what they want to FORCE on other's children. They have no idea WTF they're doing.

40% of the fat in beef tallow is mono-unsaturated, as is 50% of the fat in lard.

Stop using butter? That’s insane.

Butter is far superior to *PUFAs like corn oil, canola oil, or
worse, partially hydrogenated “oil” for cooking and baking.

*Poly-Unsaturated Fatty Acids

It seems that the pleasure, and necessity of eating healthy food cannot be achieved anymore unless you grow your OWN untainted food.
