The U.S. Department of Justice asked Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson on Friday to prohibit police officers from wearing “I am Darren Wilson” bracelets while on duty in Ferguson.
Christy Lopez, a deputy chief in the Civil Rights Division, told Jackson in a letter that residents had photos of officers, from unknown local agencies, wearing the bracelets.
“We are keenly aware of the importance of individual expression of opinions, even those that some find offensive, insensitive, or harmful,” Lopez said in the letter. However, she continued, “these bracelets reinforce the very ‘us versus them’ mentality that many residents of Ferguson believe exists.”
This is at least the second letter from Lopez to Jackson this week. The first, dated Tuesday, urged Jackson to enforce department policies requiring officers to wear nametags.

You know there ought to be a GOPe hall of shame and that post should be in it. It's one thing to talk about proper uniforms. But to sit there and say the police need to stop wearing these bracelets to appease the POS rioters cause they might get violent, thats friggin stupid and pathetic. Its no wonder with "thinking" like that America is in the upside down mess it's in.
It occurs to me that a slight upward repositioning of the storekeeper’s right knee in either of the top 2 photos (preferably the top left photo) might have put history on a different course...

She shows her prejudicial attitude by slyly calling the bracelets “offensive, insensitive and harmful”
Which is an absolute slander on the officers that are wearing them. She’s basically calling them bigots, isn’t she?
On the other hand, her comments do, so long as there isnt already banning such displays while in uniform, I believe, remove any possibility of the DoJ from forcing through law the Chief of Police from having them removed. Her comments are just way too biased and judgemental.
