Had I read this sentence cold, I would have guessed it was a winning entry in Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.
Although, Bulwer-Lytton is 'good' bad, and I don't think the simile "events that clog time like peanuts in brittle" will ever be anything but bad, bad, bad.
