Conservative MP Mark Reckless has announced that he is joining UKIP.
The Rochester and Strood MP told the UKIP conference, in Doncaster, that he has resigned as an MP, triggering a by-election in the constituency.
Delegates started to spontaneously chant "UKIP, UKIP" when Mr Reckless announced his decision to defect, which he said was not easy.
The move comes just weeks after Clacton MP Douglas Carswell defected from the Conservatives to join UKIP.

I never thought I’d be happier about the outcomes in Britain than the prospects here in the US. Its awesome to see the progress of Ukip. Right now we are stuck with Republicrats.
Farage is just awesome. He doesn’t back down and he slays his opposition with a smile. He has a Reaganesqe quality to him and the coalition he is building very much resembles the one that Reagan put together in the 80s to win big. Its unfortunate that Republican leaders don’t understand how to reproduce the Reagan effect.
The ONLY way is the Charter Party.
A party that looks for "locals", not mercenaries to look after the interests of their constituents.
The only party that will elect ministers and Prime Ministers away from the MP's elected.
A party that has a set "constitution" which would include:
Getting out of both the UN and The EU.
Bringing back hanging for major offenses, and making laws that protest the British public.
Bringing back liberty to the masses.
Killing any and all forms of socialism that are present in education.
Eradicating government workers to a maximum of 5 percent of the population.
Eradicating illegal immigration.
all true conservatives should join UKIP Today—UKIP is the new voice of the people—not the Mulicultural pablum served by the misguided elites of the old Parties and Leftist Labor Unions. Would that we had a USIP here—a political force that reflects the Tea Party in America. We need a LIberty Party and we need it today.
I didn’t know that; good point. Arrested for quoting Churchill? I wonder what happens to somebody who quotes Enoch Powell?
Fixed it for you.
There is no Reagan standing in the door. We’ll have to make due with a Cruz, Walker, etc. Remember, Ronald Reagan was the type of guy who cheated on an eye exam to get into the military: INTO the military. This was during peacetime as well, yet it was important enough to him to do that. Our GOP leaders as a group don’t have a day of service among them, which in my opinion speaks volumes.
I like Cruz and I could accept a Walker. I don’t expect perfection but I do expect who ever it is to be an advocate and sales person for conservatism grounded in liberty and constitutional governance. Top Democrats are always selling their issues. Every appearance they talk like everyone who is anyone is pro abortion and if they aren’t they are leading a war on women.
The Labour party has a major shadow minister called Ed Balls. At the least thats got to be a major disadvantage with regard to tabloid newspaper and cartoon interpretations.
Strictly speaking there is no law to say MP’s HAVE to resign if they shift parties, but it is regarded as “good form” to do so. Certainly all the MP’s who have defected to UKIP have chosen to do so.
The simple answer to that is - who are the charter party? Ive never heard of them, and I suspect 99%+ of the great British public havent either. And that in a nutshell is why if UKIP won’t make more than a tremor, you’ll need multi million pound super sensitive seismic detector gear to register what the “charter party” will acheive.

“Good Form” a great British term and custom. That is something we would never expect from our ruling class.
