Ernest Hemingway is the most overrated author in the history of the world.
From my own perspective I have to agree - and Tom Clancy is a close second.
I've always been a voracious reader, but could never get through anything Hemingway wrote.
I also read the first 2 or 3 Clancy novels, enjoyed them, but that was it. Successive books all seemed to be the same.
Given both authors' popularity, I had to believe it was me, not them.

I really struggled to get through Hemingway's writings. All I found was inanity.

I like Dorothy Parker's sage observation of Hemingway: "Deep down he's shallow."
