If the author was a member of HSLDA, she would know that CPS does not have the authority to enter her home and interview her children unless they have cause to suspect an immediate threat to survival ... which a report of “playing outside” is NOT.
I’ve had deputies on the doorstep a number of times. When a neighbor asks, “Where are your parents?” my sons have a tendency to say, “I don’t know,” instead of, “Mama’s at home mopping the floors.”
(Legalistical minds, you see ... although I was mopping the kitchen when they left the house, they do not KNOW, half an hour later, whether I’m in the shower or headed to the airport with the baby and the credit cards.)
My granddaughter fell off her scooter and broker her leg when she was six. Because it was a spiral break the hospital er doctor had to call CPS by law. They finally tracked her down at my house and wanted to speak to her. I told them okay as long as I was present. I sat quietly and let them ask and her answer about how she broke her leg. When the next question was how do your mom and dad get along? Do they argue? I stood up and told her not to answer and them it is time to go.
They didn’t argue at all and got up and politely left. From the tone of my voice they must’ve knew better. lol
