Today in oh-fer-cryin-out-loud: In an article titled "Romney 2016 is for real," The Washington Examiners Byron York looks at the movement to keep Mitt Romneyyes, that Mitt Romney, the oddly robotic candidate who looks like Mr. Fantastic, the wealthy former consultant who casually makes $10,000 bets with his opponents, the policy-specifics averse former Massachusetts governor who inspired so little enthusiasm as he topped the GOP ticket and lost by three points in 2012in the mix as a potential contender for the Republican Partys presidential nomination in 2016.
Why, you might wonder, would anyone want Romney to run again? He offered almost nothing to the ticket in 2012 except a bland respectability. Against the weak GOP lineup he was facing, that was enough to win the nomination. But most Republican voters never really loved the guy, and he never really seemed particularly fond of Republican voters or conservative policies (remember, this is the guy who as Massachusetts governor signed into law the model for Obamacare, hoping that the rest of the nation would follow).
His domestic policy agenda, in particular, was intentionally kept vague and largely substance free; he wasnt running on what he would do so much as what he wouldnt beObama. There was almost no positive case to vote for Romney, and he and his team barely attempted to present one. Another nod for Romney would only serve to further cement the already pervasive notion that the Republican party is an agenda-free-zone when it comes to policy.
Romney was nominated because he seemed more electable than the rest of the field. Relatively speaking, that impression may have been right, but its hard to run on electability after having soundly lost a major national election.

Romney, the backstabber who put in Obama,
MUST apologize to America for what he has done.
And that he did that atrocity, AFTER imposing both
RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE and gay marriage by his pen,
makes him the darling of the MSM and the GOP.
Scumrat Romney should get down on his knees
and beg forgiveness starting from the Palin family.
Scumbag Romney, darling of the DNC,
ruined the Mass. economy. Or does that not matter?
Nice to see you are still rabidly obsessed with Romney and blame him for Obama getting his second stab at us.
I like a little bit of consistency with my morning coffee.
Willard Romney attacked Gov. Palin for the first stab.
Empty Romney, as candidate, DID NOTHING, and gave us
Obama for the second stab.
Seems Mitt is responsible for both, by presuming he
was the anointed savior.
The demonrats want him to run so he can lose to the hildabeast.
TED CRUZ!
“Unfortunately what we really need right now IS a risk-taker, and someone who WILL rock the boat. Thats not Romney, never was and never will be.”
would Newt Gingrich be considered too old to rock the boat? or is Ted Cruz conservatives only hope ? but can he win, considering the 47% ++ who are the takers, along with the MSM complete devotion to Hillary?
Not so sure that he does, though all the attention may turn his head. He didn't really want the job that much last time, so it's hard to make the case for running again.
But there is an opening for an elder statesman in the party -- speaking at fundraisers and conventions, raising money for the party -- and it's one that Mitt could fill.
If Hoover and Landon and Dewey were good enough as GOP elder statesmen, it's hard to argue that Mitt won't do, and at close to 70, he's certainly got the "elder" part down.
Arguably it would be better both for Mitt and the party and for his influence in the party if he didn't run, but politicians are vain creatures and all this publicity may be going to his head.
If grand scale lying, promotion of homosexual agenda and abortion, as well as surreptitious destruction of opponents = most decent, then I would agree with you. But I don’t think that is the case, so Mitt Romney is certainly not the most decent man to ever run for president.
let him run—if you don’t like him—work for the other guy in the Primary. He would be better than President Hillary! or President Holder, or President Liberal-Communist.
If we vote for (liberal) RINO’s, that’s what we’ll keep getting.
It’s a market issue, at base.
I'm not saying I liked everything about Romney, but to blame him vs. the voters for Obama is insane - a boat load of folks ignored the path Obama was on and decided that it was just fine and dandy to give him a second term to "teach the GOPe a lesson". Wow, they sure taught the GOPe a lesson, didn't they? Meanwhile, back on the ranch, the commies are in even more control.
Romney is solely to blame, even protecting the Impostor's lack of documentation.
Romney for Obama in 2011
White House Quotes Romney in Defense of Health Care
The Rat Romney: "Obama was born in the United States"
The Rat Romney: "Obama Doesnt Need a Birth Certificate"
The Rat Romney: "The citizenship test has been passed"
Mr. RomneyCARE has doomed America, like no one else.
Romney wasn't the best choice, but he understood the Constitution and stated that Romney Care was legal for a State to do, but Obama Care was illegal/un-constitutional for the Feds to impose on a Nation.
Sorry. ROmneyCARE and gay marriage and ignoring
Obola’s lack of documentation ... BEGAN with Mitt
the convervative-backstabber and spoiler-of-freedom.
Romney and his surrogates work for Obola and Soros.

And because people like Ann Coulter was singing his praises on FOX News every freakin chance she got. She began a love affair with Gov. Krispy Kreme of New Jersey; when he didn’t run, she fell in love with Romney.
We have tried that and all we end up with is a communist, like Hillary.
Romney is a communist. There would be no choice.
