Must be my hearing going bad but I don't understand such (perceived) departures from her regular conservatives-only approach. Still think there's something else in the works.

Hatch I do not understand either. Must be some part of the story not well known. As for McCain, that was just obligatory. McCain did elevate her by picking her - and there is a kind of politeness among those in this game just like those inside any other industry. That's all the McCain thing was.

As for Roberts? She explained it, and the Cruz filibuster was a huge factor (did not remember Roberts doing that, but good for him since he did). Occams Razr. it is what it appears to be.

My take on this point is and has been different. Her National star was on great ascendency without the (premature) VP pick. Selecting her allowed Romney subversives working within the McCain/Palin campaign to do just what they did early on and continue to do this very day: to minimize her.

Romney's people knew McCain did not intend to win in 2008 and very effectively removed Palin as a potential GOP contender to Romney in 2012 and beyond.
