They know, all right. They just don’t care.

These people are anti-life. Even their own. But they are virtually guaranteed to go ahead of others who are suffering more critical infirmities, that ARE amenable to treatment.

Which means more of the other people die too.

I agree, they don't care; but, I think part of the problem is the censorship inherent in political correctness. When AIDs first hit, Andy Rooney nearly lost his job because he listed AIDS as one of the diseases caused by "lifestyle". Now, this is entirely correct. You don't have anal sex with lots and lots (some -- triple digit numbers) of men that you don't even know; and, you don't share needles while you are shooting up drugs. Without those behaviors, your chances of getting AIDs are very low.

The real problem here, is that we are not allowed to talk about this, except in sympathetic tones that make the people who have made some very bad choices, somehow the victims. Versus those of us who end up paying the bill.

What a lot of people don't get, is that promiscuous sex with strangers in public places; is actually part of the "gay" lifestyle. It turns them on, they like doing it, they are not going to stop. These are people who play a sort-of "gay" russian roulette, by having parties where someone there is HIV positive, but you don't know who; so, you might end up getting infected yourself. You just don't know. That's what makes it exciting for them. You are correct, also, anti-life.
