Who was I to correct him?
A fellow member of the military.
Saluting is a courtesy and a show of respect between the officer corps and the enlisted. If a General salutes you incorrectly, he is insulting the enlisted and junior officer ranks and deserves to be corrected (presuming his right arm was not broken/severed).
Me, a lowly E-4 and him a 2 star General. I thought it prudent not to correct him.
Good thing I didn't according to reply #21 by Birdsbane, see my reply #56 for the circumstances.
