It's also an electrical power generating plant IIRC. Not sure it is still in commission. It was one of the earliest major plants built covering at the time the entire northeast demand.
Reminds me of a few years back a TVA Security Guard found three M.E. nationals at a parking area at Norris Dam in the middle of the night in February. It was about 3:00am best I recall. NCIC system used to check for wanted fugitives files were down but the guard ran the ID's later that morning and they were wanted. Thanks to his gut feeling and stick to it they were arrested later that day.
Niagara Mohawk, The Robert Moses Power plant runs 24/7 on the US side of the gorge. The Canadian version does the same on their side. Mr. Tesla did some of his earliest work on the NY side.
However, more likely these guys decided they would rather be cab drivers in Toronto, than be officers in the Afghan army. The pay is probably better and nobody tries to cut your head off.
