Nice place to visit, but a large set of tropical issues compounded by being an island .

Too bad that they do not grow more of their own food, lumber, and such.

A lot of food is grown here.

We buy almost all our veggies, fruits at a local farmers' market. Cheaper and better than the grocery store.

Revoking the Jones Act would go a long way toward lowering prices in HI.

Ya. Exactly. We plan to visit periodically as funds allow.

We were on Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island back in June. Truly a paradise.

Actually, there are affordable areas... as long as you don’t mind the risk of lava flows and living in virtual deserts.
