Spielberg changed the ending to one where Schindler makes an appeal to the soldiers' humanity to spare the lives of his workers.
Why? I've always believed that Spielberg did not want to show guns in a positive light while his fellow Democrats in congress and the White House were in the process of passing the most comprehensive gun control laws since 1968.
