The Declaration is not a governing document and has no force of law.It has the force of NATURAL LAW. It assumes that our rights as delineated in that document come from God and not men and that whenever the government becomes destructive of those rights, it becomes the duty of the people to overthrow it, by whatever means necessary. If secession is the only remaining means (such as the Declaration of Independence) then that is the means that needs to be implemented.

It says alter or abolish it. Since you have it within your power to alter it, Jefferson would have opposed your efforts to abolish it.
