Whenever I’m in Central Park I always keep my eyes peeled for Speed Racer. And in spite of my caution I’ve had one or two pretty close calls.

The fun-time risks finally caught up with this guy. And the woman he killed.

They didn’t do anything about him before, so now they’ll have to...unfortunately, their procrastination/apathy has left a family reeling from a totally unnecessary and preventable death.

Roadies can be some of the most dangerous, arrogant, selfish and downright stupid riders out there...

This reminds me of the story from SF where a roadie ran over an old lady and she died...

I live east of Seattle, and I run every day.

The number of close calls I have with young white males on expensive bikes is insane.

I have bikers pass me on the sidewalk who are going faster than the bikers in the street.

I have bikers pass me within 2 feet from behind...when there is a street bike lane just a few feet away.

I tell my family and friends if I fail to come home after a run it means I was killed by a biker or knocked into the street and killed by oncoming traffic.

I like running on a hard surface, but there are no public hard service running tracks in my area.

I’ve actually thought about quitting running because it is so dangerous if you do not pay attention every second.

This is why I stopped using the Burke Gillman trail in Seattle. It has a 15 mph speed limit and radar cops on motorcycles.

And carrying a gun is too bulky.

A walking-stick, or some would say a staff, ‘accidentally’ swung in their direction at just the right moment when you are looking in another direction, does wonders for quickly stopping such inconsiderate individuals from harming others.

Just FYI.
