That didn't work out to well last time. In a new secessionist era, I can see a cooperation agreement where Texas would pay for defense, and secure rent money from the US, if the US decided to maintain its bases in the new Republic of Texas.

Avoiding the actions needed to control today's Fort Sumter and other forts and bases is the primary reason for expelling the treasonous states rather than seceding. Even a spineless sissy like Obama couldn't pass up the opportunity to completely destroy our country through an all out civil war; we cannot give him the opportunity.
