House Speaker John Boehner (R) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) united Wednesday evening to fund the government after September 30 by passing a continuing resolution (CR) that includes the funding of Planned Parenthood, the nations largest abortion provider, and Obamacare.
Republicans needed significant support from Democrats to pass the CR, 319-108. However, 53 Republicans and 55 Democrats voted against it, reports CNSNews.com. The bill will fund the government through December 11th during the lame duck session of Congress.
Among the Republican members of the House who voted against the resolution were Reps. Louis Gohmert (TX); Michele Bachmann (MN); Trey Gowdy (SC); John Fleming (LA); Jim Jordan (OH); Scott Garrett (NJ); Jim Bridenstine (OK); and Dana Rohrabacher (CA).

Conservatives won't block Boehner (Susan Ferrechio, Washington Examiner, 9/18/2014):
A group of the most conservative House lawmakers said Thursday that Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, is no longer in danger of losing his gavel to GOP opposition thanks to a leadership shake-up that now includes more conservative input.
I dont see anybody going forward and mounting a challenge to the speaker, Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, a frequent critic of Boehner, said at an event sponsored by the conservative Heritage Foundation.I expect there wont be a challenge.
The House Tea Party faction had long been grumbling about their Republican leadership, complaining that is too moderate and ignores the concerns of the far Right.
In 2012, a group of disgruntled GOP lawmakers plotted to defeat Boehner in the election for House speaker, but they backed down at the last minute.
The failed coup sparked speculation that Boehner may not have enough GOP support to win a third term as speaker in January 2015.
Is there anyone in the GOP who would not?
No. Dump the GOP, the mirror image of the DNC.
I used to pity people in other countries living in a one party state.
Now I am them.
But the American people choose the one-party system actually believing there are two competing parties.
Some people keep posting that we need to elect Republicans in order to stop the Democrat’s agenda. All I’ve see from the Republicans is the go along, get along, help get things done in Washington attitude. Please show me where they will repeal Obama Care, cut all the free cell phones, restore defense, deny amnesty, and implement enforce and deport as our immigration policy. You haven’t seen anything either? That’s because Obama Care is settled law according to Mr.Bohener and we can’t cut social spending because the media will call us racist. Gut the military and turn it into “a force for good”. Say nothing until after the election and then get to work on “immigration reform” that’s the plan.
And the likes of Boehner have the nerve to keep emailing and calling me asking for money? We’re suppose to fund them so they can pull this s*hit??
George Washington warned about the dangers of "parties in the state".
....NO parties. And he gave many reasons in his Farewell Address.
Parties are no more than adversarial mobs, splitting the nation down the middle so that sinister forces may eventually center in a single individual who will have his way pushed by powerful and wealthy forces for their own criminal gain.
I think the strategy is to not upset the apple cart before the elections. Just let the inevitable happen and try to wrest control of the Senate.
I don’t agree. I think it’s a poor plan. We keep giving up yardage before we take the ball giving us lousy field position.
The two parties are nothing more than kleptocratic organized crime families.
Republicans getting control of the Senate is not going to happen.
What a Shock.
Behind closed doors they probably railed against the "Purists" on this issue who want a more firm stance from them.
Remember if you demand the GOP support YOUR values, than you are supporting the Democrat.
Or something.
Uniparty Ping!
Bohner? Why is STUPID SOB still in Washington? He has done more harm to the Republican party than the demodummies have. He needs to be gone!
Not only to the Republican Party, to the Nation. To America.
My congresscritter, Doug Collins, R(GA-10), an alleged Tea Partier, signed to vote for bill that funded ObamaCare, Planned Parenthood, and arming “moderate” Syrian rebels.
He has done okay things in the past, but I’m thinking about skipping his line this election.
Just see my tag line.
This Pubbie/Dem illusion has been going on for over 100 years now and most people don’t have a clue about it.
The democrats, who will pull any trick, do any damage, to win. The republicans who let the democrats pull any trick, do any damage, lose every time.
And the Republicans seem to think that’s winning.
Because all the abject morons posting on right wing web sites about ‘GOP no matter what!” keep electing him and his clones.
I mean, it DOES require SOMEONE to elect them. So those people own the blame.
“Purists” like G-d Almighty, for example...
It’s bad enough he DID this... but I am certain that he didn’t EVEN get anything IN RETURN!
Nice horse trading, John
Unfortunately, I think that you are correct. I would be very surprised if the Rep’s were to win control.
In that same vein what would they do with control once the got it? Would they re institute the filibuster for the democRATS, probably. The litany of failures/capitulations to the democRATS will be extensive, expensive, and embarrassing.
