The US healthcare system goes into panic overdrive over the annual flu. And it has a what? less than 1% death rate? They can not stop it or even slow it down.
We have a virus that has a demonstrated 50+ % death rate with supportive care and it poses no risk to the US? The transmission rate is increasing, indicating it may be mutating into a more infectious strain. Even as it existed a month ago, it is uncontrollable by those that are experts on the disease and have actual hands on experience with it.
Over 399 trained health workers have come down with ebola, more than half are now dead. But it can’t happen here?
Look up the Spanish Flu and see what it did, this disease is worse, and there are no treatments other than supportive care, and no prevention other than absolute quarantine.
The civilized world will enact strict quarantine to control outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (including quarantining people suspected of just exposure), but the won’t take the same measures to protect people from ebola? Criminal negligence at the very least.
Firstly, trained health care workers are knee deep in ebola patients' bodily fluids, which normal people are not. Secondly, a "trained health worker" in Africa may know how to put on a bandage, measure a teaspoon of medicine and been suggested to wash their hands occasionally.
It's AFRICA!!! We are nothing like them.
