Just hours after apologizing for using what was perceived as an anti-Semitic slur, Vice President Joe Biden deployed another term Wednesday that some might consider ethnically offensive.

I think the offendocrats have determined that using Oriental to describe a person is offensive, but I don't believe it is offensive to refer to Asia as such.
It's just a bit archaic. Like Biden.

Again, the whining of the perpetually offended is annoying.
These people should not be ignored, or pandered to.
They should be mocked and ridiculed. They act like whiny babies (worse, actually) but pretend to be adults.
Makes me want to wear a Washington Redskins shirt, have breakfast at Sambo’s, and take a ride on the Orient Express.

Biden has a different slant on things.

They saw Asia, knew about it, and called it East of them. Then Europe became West.
As far as Orient, let us not forget Europe is also the Occident.
I wouldn’t mind being called occidental, myself. A bit strange, maybe, but it would be OK.

Thanks for reminding me - I need to buy a Redskins jersey! Ensure it has the Indian (gasp!) and the full name written out.
BTW, is “jersey” offensive to the people who live in those areas? Do they despise their region being used to describe shirts?

It's an odd thing, though. "Western Civilization." West of whom?
West of the East?
The Western part of the Eurasian continent maybe.
Followed by America which is even more West.
And yes its true that most nations consider themselves in the middle, just look at how the Brits declared the zero meridian to go straight through London, Greenwich Observatory if you are pedantic, which puts most of Europe in the Eastern hemisphere.

That would be West of the Middle East?
Western Society or Western Civilization studies covered the History, Philosophy, and Religion of the areas to the West of what is now called Israel (Judaism). Christianity as well as Greek and Roman influence on the thinking of our “Western World”.
Geographically, “West” would be to the West of the Prime Meridian or 0 degrees Longitude, which extends from the North Pole through Greenwich, England to the South Pole. “East” would be East of “0” to the 180 degrees Longitude.
Of course we all knew that.

Thats the first time I ever heard that Orient is now a slur. When did that happen?
About the time Liberals convinced the TV stations to quit running old Charlie Chan movies.

Original lyrics of “Hail to the Redskins”:
Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old Dixie!
Run or pass and score — we want a lot more!
Scalp ‘em, swamp ‘em — We will take ‘em big score
Read ‘em, weep ‘em, touchdown - we want heap more
Fight on, Fight on — ‘Till you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
To: Biggirl
Biden puts the ‘Dip’ in ‘Dipchit’.

Maybe it was a fluke, or he did it just for the halibut. I’m praying to cod he doesn’t keep making these mistakes like that other vlce president Al B. Core. Next thing you know he’ll go off the deep end and Obama will have flex his mussels and reel him in. Maybe it’s time Biden went back to his brain sturgeon. It would help us all if he would just clam up.
Your chum,

I read lots of old history books, and have picked up on some of the more archaic usages. Glad somebody caught it.
