However, that doesn't negate the fact that back in colonial times we didn't have representation in the UK parliament.
Now, all states have representation with the opposition controlling the House and poised to control the Senate. No comparison.
" The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years."
The Big Question is where will the Stone of Scone go??????????
Some of the best investment companies in the world are in Scotland and have been in business for several hundred years with a very good track record. Mr. Connery may well have some of this money managed there.
I will grant you that we are in better shape than the colonies, but there is much to Reagan’s observation that the reason why none of our people are in Washington is that once they get there, they cease to be our people.
The ratio of representatives to people is too large, and the amount of time spent in Washington is too much, for most of the folks in Washington to stay in touch with their roots for any significant time. That is why when the “opposition” seizes control of the Senate and has control of the House, I do not expect anything to actually change.
These may not be enough for some but it's FAAAAAR better than Reid's do nothing Congress.
And we will see the deficit continue into the stratosphere and the executive branch to reign unchecked by the legislative branch or the Constitution.
I have read a bit about this. It seems to me the “Yes” coalition is a virtual clone to the US democratic party. All the way down to rational questions or dissent being absolutely not tolerated, to one word meaningless catch phrase of “Yes” akin to Hope, Change, Forward. It seems the yes crowd wants to create a socialist Utopia. I am kind of wanting it to happen, as I think that will be a huge boon for UKIP.
Absolutely right. The downfall of America can be traced to its cultural suicide, starting with the 1965 Immigration Act when the demonic Ted Kennedy crafted a way for the Progressives to win a final victory by barring European immigrants and importing the entire Third World to undermine and eventually destroy our own Judeo-Christian culture, born of the European Enlightenment. Clinton and Bush accelerated this demise with massive importations of Muslims. And Obama has blown it wide open, relishing the flood of unskilled Third Worlders who don’t even speak Spanish, let alone English.
...
Yep. It’s all about flooding the country with people who will vote for Big Corrupt Government.
The quintessential Bond. All others were mere pretenders.
But he chooses to live in the Bahamas rather than Scotland. Hmmm...
Who will stop it? The Scots?
Right.
But I don't know if he wants to lead the Dems into 2016 with that kind of record.
” all states have representation with the opposition controlling the House and poised to control the Senate”
“opposition”? You consider the Republican party the “opposition”?
More Balkanization—big nations breaking up into smaller and weaker states. Happened to the USSR—Happening to UK, soon to happen to the USA. We may break into four or five Nation States. Mexico could breat into three nations, Canada Two at least. Sad but Historical phenomena—We broke away from England. And that turned out rather good.
Probably stay right where it is (Edinburgh Castle). The cubby in King Edward’s Chair will likely remain empty in future English coronations.
Warmer
I’d do it too if I could afford it.
Maybe a US territory like the VI, but still....
Sure it’s warmer. Whatever rocks his boat. Good for him, he’s earned the cash to do as he wants. (Me, I’d get bored there after a few weeks, though.)
Anyway, the point was: if he’s so passionate about Scotland, why can’t he be bothered to spend his life there? I.e., is he a hypocrite?
Yep, he has lived in Spain for almost 50 years.
WHOA Bender was Sean Connery was high on LSD when he was doing that film LOL!
