Scotland must now face this fact:
most of their income will come from North Sea petroleum production and export. What happens to an independent Scotland when the oil and natural gas run out? In that case, they're in major financial trouble, because their famous whisky industry won't be anywhere close enough to generate revenue for that country's treasury.
With the USA now dramatically increasing oil and gas production and Europe now looking at increased Norwegian oil and gas production, an independence for Scotland may now look a lot less attractive.
