A patent must be running out! We are only using this stuff because it was mandated to replace the old Freon which was said to be destroying the Big O zone or some such crap. It never worked as well as Freon. I wouldn’t be surprised if someday they find a way to change some little detail and get a new patent on Freon and then we have to go back to it. All about money folks, all about money. If we all decided to just live in a tent to avoid all this garbage that would be illegal too.

Non-scientist here. What is the name of this replacement coolant? And, where does Puron fall into all this. I switched to puron years ago when they told us freon was being outlawed and no longer allowed. Is that now going to be outlawed?

nothing has cooled like R12 cooled imo...but yes they say it was destroying the big O so then went to R134, NOW that is dangerous : / it’s always something and will never stop!

Yup the replacement of Freon coincided with the expiration of a patent.
DuPont must need a new source of profits.
That replacement coincidentally made oodles for global chemical and pharma. It's why asthma inhalers that actually worked were replaced by a poorly tested, inferior product
