How much can Israel really do on its own? Has the West Bank been quieted? The current administration is not helping Israel. Shiites, this admin doesn’t even have the backs of our own boots.
So Bibi saved his nation’s butt in the way it went because he is alone. Who else supports Israel? Will Hamass be prepared to attack under this administration or will it take longer?
There are problems at the Syrian border which are more important now that the tunnels are down. Reagan did the same thing not going after Hezbollah after Beirut, he tore down the wall and exposed the actual impotence of Russia. Meanwhile, the invasive species of jihad spread.
Bibi is a million times better than this current administration.
IMHO, Israel is far from alone. We need a different kind of ally. The Jewish State is on the same boat with Armenia, Cyprus, South Sudan, Kurds, Alawites, Balluchi, Yazidi, and the innumerable denominations of Eastern Christians. These are our natural allies. The US is just another super power, and going to one mighty imperial power for protection from another has been done to death. We ingratiated ourselves with the ancient Persian court when it replaced the Babylonians in hegemony. We went to the Romans for protection from the post-Alexandrine Greeks. We went to the British for protection from the Ottomans. With the notable exception of the ancient Persians, each time, it inevitably backfired. At this particular juncture, we cannot go to the clueless US and its malevolent POTUS for protection from the resurgent Calliphate-ists. We must instead look to our fellow Eastern minorities for mutual protection. We could in time call this federation EMA (Eastern Minorities Alliance) once it has some muscles to flex. EMA’s time has come. The old paradigm is over. I think Israel’s diplomacy is evolving along these lines, whether or not we are aware of it.
