Some states have a rule that EVERY Domestic Violence call requires the removal of one of the parties involved from the home. Some require an arrest.

Good thing he’s a US rep and not a football player. He’ll keep his job.

When my senile father called the police because I was not answering his relentless phone calls, they showed up at the house and separated me from my husband! All my father had said was that I wasn’t answering the phone - somehow those dopes interpreted it as domestic abuse, I guess.

Yeah, and that is getting seriously abused in divorce cases. The courts insist on making a winner and a loser when there is custody of children involved, so there is an incentive to fight dirty. Whoever loses custody becomes a financial slave to the other spouse.

One of the effective techniques is to file domestic assault charges on the other spouse to try to paint them as the "primary aggressor". If successful, that can win you custody of the kids and the accompanying child support award as well.
