Beyond questions of how the plan will work, Zinni took issue with Obama naming a retired Marine general to coordinate efforts against IS. The issue, he said, is not with John Allen, who served as acting Centcom commander before taking charge of all U.S. forces in Afghanistan prior to retiring. The issue, said Zinni, is why that position was needed.
“John Allen is a great guy, but does it take a retired general to coordinate a coalition? What is Centcom, chopped liver? Did Norman Schwarzkopf get some retired general? Who is really leading here, that is my question.”
So why is this ISIL going to CENTCOM? To shut it down?
