Scotland is going to attempt to separate without having any of the basic institutions in place to support the social democratic state they seek.
they don’t currently have any way to collect their own: income tax, payroll tax, corporate tax, excise tax. they admit they will be dependent on britain to collect these taxes after “independence” for years to come.
they don’t have any of their own programs to pay unemployment benefits or welfare benefits, or nhs payments or even social housing payments.
forget about passports, an “independent” scotland might not be able to issue its own drivers licenses for years
in 1980 Quebec was all ready to go, at least on all of the above.
this is a joke, scotland is in no way ready for independence.

Curiously, every medieval baron was able and very much willing to collect taxes from everyone he could reach. Is the entire Scotland, armed with computers, barcode scanners, and the Internet, less capable than one barely literate man and his ten soldiers?
Otherwise it would appear that only an already independent country can declare independence. This is nonsense, of course. Countries form, merge and fall apart all the time. Yugoslavia separated into several states just ten or fifteen years ago. They are doing fine.
No gov’t apparatus in place? That is a shame. Unlimited and expanded welfare and socialist medicine? Oh sure, that’ll work
Once the place is flooded with muzzie dole-suckers, we’ll see actual Scots emigrate into England, Ireland, and of course the United States. Scotland will turn into more of a Eurabian hell-hole more quickly than any place in history.
