Yes, I read “One Second After”, frightening. I always worry when my children travel 50 or more miles away about how we will get back together. My 19 year old is a dirt bike racer and frequently travels out of state to race.
It's the one that convinced me to include antibiotics in my prepper stocks.
"Months before publication, One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second. It is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America. In the tradition of On the Beach, Fail Safe and Testament, this book, set in a typical American town, is a dire warning of what might be our future...and our end."
“Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.” H.L. Mencken
His dirt bike should be ok.
Stop worrying,you’ll drive yourself nuts.
My kids and grandkids are constantly in motion, flying all over the place.
I put them all in God’s hands——and I stay calm.

I am a 50 year old dirt rider. I had to walk 20 miles out of the woods last week. No EMP needed to screw up! Tell your rider to keep at it.
A 19 year old can walk 50 miles in two days.
