I’m not sure about that. He was Scottish, and with the upcoming referendum on independence this could go either way. It could galvanise people who want to stay in the UK to vote to stay within the Union and enjoy the greater protection of the UK.

It could encourage more people to vote for independence. Many of the yessers arguments against staying in the Union are because of the UK’s involvement in so-called ‘illegal wars’ and they may try to use this as evidence that being part of the UK encourages Muslim terrorists to target Scots and Scotland.
Either way, it probably wouldn’t be wise for the UK to be involved in a war right now. It would antagonise a lot of people leaning towards voting ‘yes’ and as far as I’m concerned, preserving the Union is a far more important issue right now than dealing with ISIS.
