RUSH: Last night was incredible. I didn't know what time the pregame stuff started on CBS. The game started at 8:30, and I thought, "Well, okay, pregame stuff will start at eight o'clock." So at about a quarter 'til eight I turned on the tube to get ready for it and I found myself in the middle of the most incredible pregame show of a football game I've ever seen.
Now, remember, yesterday was 9/11. Ray Rice and Roger Goodell in the media trumped 9/11. Ray Rice and Roger Goodell trumped football. I don't know about the rest of you guys out there, but I'm starting to get it. I'm starting to hear. It's starting to connect. I'm not doing enough to stop wife beating. Wife beating is an epidemic. It's happening all over the country, and it's really, really happening in the NFL, and we are all responsible for it. And we have got to do something about it.
I have learned that I am not aware enough, that my conscious has not been raised enough, that I am not worried or concerned enough about this, that it is an epidemic, and that it's happening all the time. Why, I learned that just since Ray Rice cold cocked his fiancee in the elevator, 600 women have supposedly died from wife abuse since February. I heard that on CBS in the pregame show last night. I heard that from James Brown, who I think wants to be the Bob Costas of CBS. Maybe he wants to be Bob Costas, period.
I've also learned, as I predicted, football is politics. Football has jumped the shark and has now become politics.

Bill Burr has some quality stand up.
You know, I’m really sick of this.
Yes, of course a man shouldn’t beat up a woman; of course he did wrong. But I can’t take any more of these public spectacles...any slight, small or great, perceived or real, to the Great and Holy Triumvirate of Cherished Victims-—blacks, queers, and women-—must be met with rending of garments, wailing, and screams of outrage.
Did anyone see Jerry Richardson, the owner of the Carolina Panthers (my team) blubbering and crying about how much he hates domestic violence? Sheesh, what a trainwreck.
The other night I saw a preview of a TV series called “The Good Wife” in which a woman strikes her man in the face. The next story was about Ray Rice. Hypocrisy with liberals is rampant, their calling card.
Did you see where Adrian Peterson has been indicted for abuse of a child? Local news said he spanked his child - possibly with a “rod” of some sort (stick, ruler?) - he has hired one of the most prominent lawyers in Houston.
Amen. There really are only a few things worse than being lectured to by national sportscasters. Among these is being lectured to by local sportscasters.
“Why must they ruin everything?”
You can ruin the day for any leftist. Simply follow one of these hand-wringing wimps into a dark parking lot with no witnesses around and read the jellyfish the riot act. Don’t stand too close or the donkey might pee on your shoe.
Sports media is awful as Rush describes it worst of the PC worst.
You win the blue ribbon for the YEAR.
You NAILED it!!
Thanks
Re: the delusional leftist media, including sports,,
anything but Benghazi is the order of the day..
So stir it up, lapdogs.
Yeah, I saw that. Before I figured out he was fulsomely blubbering over the concept of domestic violence, I thought that his immediate family must have been wiped out by Ebola.
LOL!
But he doesn’t hate domestic violence enough to kick the savage who works from him off his team. Another phony, empty suit d-bag. When it comes between doing the right thing, or money, money wins every time. He is not the only one. How about the Dolphins. Richie Icognito sexually assaults a woman working at the teams golf outing and the owner, GM, and the coach do nothing, I repeat nothing. Icognito only gets in trouble for bullying a teammate, the least of his transgressions. What all this does is confirms what I have taken to heart in the last few years. Everybody of prominence in our country today is an empty suit, even those we are supposed to like.
And the talking heads go on & on about fantasy football!
I just don't get it. First they take a game...recreation, and turn it into Big Business, with a minor in Statistical Analysis.
Now everyone seems obsessed with FANTASIZING about a GAME?
I hope Ray and his now wife work it out
Let hope for those crazy kids
Next appearance on DR Phil
soon to be ex Mrs Ray Rice
Your entire post is a non-sequitur and ignores the history of the Left trying to ban football since the days of Presidnet TR, as well as attacking it now.
None of what you stated has no bearing to the central argument that the Left hates football. The crony capitalism is a completely different subject matter altogether.
Here are the facts:
- The NFL is a strong supporter of the U.S. military
- The NFL promotes community pride
- The NFL promotes racial harmony
- The NFL has made a number of blacks from the inner-cities into multi-millionaires
THAT is precisely why the Left is attacking the game now
============================================
One can only HOPE!
You deal in myth, while I deal in reality. You list the sizzle, while I show the steak. How much more crony capitalism do you need then the billions of the taxpayer’s money that is spent on pro sports franchises, NFL included. The Left could ban football tomorrow if they wanted to. But I haven’t seen one ultra leftist university president, and they all are leftists, lift a finger to shut down their football team. Who makes a fortune off the NFL on Sunday night’s, that’s right, the same people who bring you MSNBC. Chris Collingsworth and Rachel Maddow have the same signature on their paychecks. No my friend, the left has no incentive to shutdown the game of football, a game that finances their high living lifestyles from the money made on the game. From the Democrat owners, University Presidents, and the Network Honchos. Without the money the NFL makes for NBC, where would they get the half mil to pay Chelsea Clinton. If you ever at a Redskins game take a gander at the luxury boxes and you will see Harry Reid eating his shrimp cocktail in one of them. Since TR was a big government guy, a progressive I think he considered himself, the myth was how a leftist like TR saved the game.
