In early June 1964, a group of Republican governors sought to wrestle control of their party from Barry Goldwater, the Arizona conservative who was about to lead the GOP to one of the most crushing defeats in its history. The governors saw a disaster in the making, and sought a moderate candidate who could capture the imaginations of grassroots Republicansbut also beat President Lyndon Johnson in the general election. Led by Ohios James Rhodesthe Republican Governors Association was meeting in Cleveland, and Rhodes was a legendary vote counterthe group included Pennsylvanias William Scranton and later New Yorks Nelson Rockefeller.

Couple that interview or statement with the real Mitt Romneythe one from the documentary speaking to the nation from the heart every day and on every stop. Match that Mitt against the polished and calculating Hillary Clinton. Well then, as Paul Ryan said, the third time really could be the charm. Romney may still do this2016 needs Mitt even if Mitt doesnt think he needs it yet.

You’re right. It’s late. I was thinking of Bush as still governor.
No one is pro-queer. They are just cowards.
A brave man says “ you can do what you want, but don’t expect me to accept your deviancy” A coward knuckles under to the mob. Most people are cowards.
“Willard boot licker Hugh Hewitt”
lol. You know, we really ought to have a daily Hugh Hewitt Radio Show Thread.
When he’s not tongue-polishing Mitt Romney’s boots he’s beating the drum for Amnesty while calling it ‘Regularization’ (that’s to fool us rubes). Or he’s pimping for the Illegal Alien Children’s Crusade while sounding like Obama.
Or he’s explaining to his audience that Tea Party favorite Tim Donnelly will destroy the Republican Party’s chances, and that California conservatives just have to get behind GOPe wonderboy Neel Kashkari.
Neel Kashkari ran the TARP program for Obama, he says he voted for Barky twice, he’s for gun restrictions, gay marriage and illegal alien amnesty. In other words just the sort of candidate that makes “Center-Right” Hugh Hewitt fall in love.
Hugh’s a goldmine of GOPe intel. You’ll always know what the GOPe/RINO brain trust is plotting by listening in on good old Hugh.
Romney. Romney again. You can’t make this stuff up.
What? Plenty of people are pro-queer. Romney is one of them. He has a long history of being so.
"A brave man says you can do what you want, but dont expect me to accept your deviancy A coward knuckles under to the mob. Most people are cowards. "
In May of 2012, Romney said that two people of the same sex who "love each other" should be allowed to adopt children. That sounds like a lot more than knuckling under to me.
But whatever it was, it was reprehensible and disgusting, and it proves that Romney is not a decent man.
If a Conservative Republican can't win either the GOP nomination or the presidency in times like 1980 (shaping up to be very similar in 2016) then they cannot win ever, and it will certainly be time to (1) scratch the extra-constitutional presidential primary tournament process, a creature of progressivism and of the Democrat Party; and (2) scratch the GOP.
Amen, Catherine. Well said.
Thanks, friend.
Hello, Bubba? Knock knock????
Do you seriously think that's gonna happen inside the GOP? Do you seriously think the majority will of conservatives calls the shots as to who gets nominated via the GOP? Then you probably also think the moon may be made of green cheese.
As long as the Republican party harbors and promotes the likes of Romney or McCain, it is a party TO BE AVOIDED because when it wins, it does the same as the Democrats. It isn't a matter of "how about we all agree ...." You are a stooge.
It’s so clear the GOP doesn’t really want to win. IF they did they would field a candidate who is a stark contrast to whatever Dem gets put up. Our nation is so polarized already after Obama. The anti-Obama is going to win hands down.
