Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) on Thursday characterized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as being deliberately confrontational before abruptly walking off the stage at an event meant to raise awareness for Christians in the Middle East.
Cruz said some in the crowd the night before reacted with "bigotry and hatred" when he expressed his support for Israel early in his speech.
"I support Israel, but what Senator Cruz did was outrageous and incendiary," Dent told The Washington Post. "He showed a true lack of sensitivity for the people he was speaking to, especially the religious leaders who were there. It was a political speech, inappropriate and, overall, an uncomfortable moment." Dent attended the event sponsored by the group In Defense of Christians. He said Cruz seemed to be speaking to another audience, speculating it might have been done to rally Tea Party activists. The group is aimed at advocating for Christians persecuted in the Middle East.
He was speaking to people outside of the building," Dent said. "It was a willful and deliberate confrontation, and very self-serving."
Cruz cut his remarks short after only a few minutes. In a statement issued near midnight, Cruz said he had been booed while expressing his strong support for Israel and the Jewish people.
I told the attendees that those who hate Israel also hate America, that those who hate Jews also hate Christians, and that anyone who hates Israel and the Jewish people is not following the teachings of Christ," Cruz said. These statements were met with angry boos."
The Texas Republican then walked out after telling the audience he would not stand with them if they did not stand with the Jewish people.

To liberal republicans like Charlie Dent, conservatism is "outrageous!"
The Status Quo establishment versus patriotic conservatives. SOS.
Sure Dent supports Israel. Just like Obama supports Israelsolely in word, when convenient.
Any leader of this nation that is set to do what is needed and right will have to do a lot more “outrageous” things than that.
Spineless rodents that cannot tell their right hand from their left will never understand principle or the cost of conviction.
Cruz was right.
Here’s how the narrative went in the media, as the truth dripped out.
Day 1.) Frame it as Ted Cruz as being booed by “Christians.”
Day 2.) Frame it as “Christians” being anti Semite.
Day 3.) Frame it as Ted Cruz’s fault for being a showman.
Media is so predictable.
IMHO - no proof - the GOP-e set this up to discredit Cruz and the Conservatives whom they DISPISE.
Thats the difference between a 'smarmey' and schmoozing liberal vs. a Patriot.
The Patriot will speak his mind even if it is confrontational, especially if it is the truth and a 'core moral value.
Interesting to note that the conference leadership issued a public apology for the memberships behavior the next day.
Dent is mad that Cruz stood up to bigotry?
Great argument, Dent.

A few anti-Semites that call themselves Christians don’t like Ted Cruz.
Big deal.
It might have been confrontational, but I have to admire Cruz's stand. It says volumes about the audience he was speaking to.
Ted Cruz represents Texas, represents me. Going out to his website now to shoot him a thank you note for his continuing support of Israel and of conservative values.
Dent is a simpering joke of a man. There is not moral comprehension in him.
Cruz is a man of clear conviction who spoke specifically to the conference and its membership. The conference leadership spoke forcefully against those so called Christians who tried to silence Cruz. Dent not so much.
It might have been confrontational, but I have to admire Cruz’s stand. It says volumes about the audience he was speaking to.
I agree.
It turns out Cruz was speaking to a group of Arabs.
So he got mocked. So what? He stood up and walked out.
Sounded like it was the CAIR plants in the crowd who were being "deliberately confrontational" to me
In before the concern trolls arrive to whine about how this will hurt Cruz.
“The Texas Republican then walked out after telling the audience he would not stand with them if they did not stand with the Jewish people.” That was a correct response to this origination
