You obviously don't know much about Alaska. This supposedly happened in Wasilla. That's the "Banana Belt". I live about 300 miles to the north of there in the Interior.

Our average "snow date" is Oct 12. Granted; sometimes it comes earlier and sometimes later, but that is the AVERAGE.

This year so far, we have not had any indication of snow. It seems like an average fall. The leaves have mostly turned, but they have not fallen.

Given all that, they could have had a gathering for the Iron Dog. It takes a lot of planning and organization to put something like that race together.

BTW, if someone said something derogatory about one of the Palin women and Todd overheard it, I would expect the offender's dentist would get some work. A real man won't tolerate ANYONE talking that way about one of his own, would you?
