The solution is in turn to kill off ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Boca Haram, and every other terrorist group that murders even one innocent American or commits genocide. Eventually, a group will come to power that likes ruling enough to play within the rules we set.
It is sobering that these circumstances force us to contemplate variations on a theme of the extermination of some large portion if not all of that 20% of the global population associated with Islam.
Of course no elected government in the west would contemplate anything remotely like that. Some political theorists might. Some leaders of less accountable governments might, given an incentive. At the moment, the west has a greater incentive than Russia or China to be thinking along these lines.
Nor, I would argue, should we succumb to this. Any such development would have to take place either at a late stage of confrontation where there was imminent danger to all, or through the agencies of God acting directly.
What we can do is to demand that every Islamic national government would adhere to minimum standards or face the most severe sanctions that would amount to a total isolation from the world community and our right to go in and extract their resources. Where they might fight back, then eliminate any resistance.
We have put up with half measures and broken promises, lies and bad behavior on an epic scale for about fifty years now, not to mention situations in the more distant past.
Enough is enough. The non-Islamic world community should get together and issue ultimatums to the Islamic world. Force them to decide, passive aggressive support of the gradual approach to world domination, or a clear repudiation of that followed by agreements to act in predictable and civilized ways, as some Islamic states are already able to do (not really that many, truth be told).
The chances of this president adopting such a leadership position are zero. The chances of any given Democrat replacement doing so are close to zero.
Republican contenders would range from near zero to low double digits on this scale. If you want to elect an absolute alien non-qualifier who would take this approach, then I am doing very little between 2017 and 2024.
