It seems that Christians had it better under some of the dictators we’ve helped to overthrow. I listened to a Christian Dr. and Bishop on the radio pleading for America not to help overthrow Assad because under him at least they could live in peace. They said not everyone in the world are suited to live in a democracy.

That is correct, particularly for Syria. I've heard the same from Iraqi Christians about Saddam, as hard as that is for Americans to believe.

I'm afraid we've been operating our Middle East policy under the erroneous premise that it is always better to get rid of a brutal dictator and allow freedom and democracy to flourish. The problem is there aren't enough rational people in the Middle East to sustain a democratic republic. In short, thanks to Islam, it's full of crazy people.
