Agreed, my biggest fear with ISIS is that they attempt a Breslan type attack on one of our American schools.

I recently retired after 32 years (rural school +700)they do have an armed police officer in our school at all times.

I must say though that our intruder alert drill concerns me. Luckily I taught science, and the first thing to greet anyone who broke into my classroom would be a liter of HCL in their face.

I live in a rural town, they don’t have officers here either. We knew that several of their elementary and middle school teachers kept something that could be used as a weapon in their classrooms for a final deterrent if someone comes through the door during lockdown. No one officially admitted that was why there was a baseball bat in the corner behind the filing cabinet, but come on, we aren’t stupid either and I felt better if it was there anyway.

My kids are in HS now, which is right across the highway from my business. They carry their cell phones during the day, I told them to call me if anything ever happens and tell me which side of the school to be at for them. I might have to replace a couple of pieces of fence from my truck, but I can be there cross country in about 30 seconds to get them if I ever got an all-out emergency call.
