LOVE that Mel Blanc interview.
Well, Mel at least. Letterman couldn’t have cared less. What a ham-fisted dweeb.

Mel Blanc did the best he possibly could.
Thanks for posting - what a gem.

When he showed up at Cal Poly University (SLO) one time, it was a lecture scheduled in mid-morning at one of the big halls in the Student Center. To this day I believe I had my priorities straight -- I missed my lecture in some science or history class, and caught him instead. Apparently a LOT of students had the same priorities. The place was packed like a sardine can, and when he spoke, you could have heard a pin drop at times.

I find the Letterman interview painful to watch! {^) Letterman is such a clueless maroon!

It's kinda worth it to get the Warner Bros. five-disc CDs of classic cartoons because the special features include some great interviews with the guys who made the cartoons. I'm also a big Jack Benny fan, and Mel Blanc was a major element of Benny's shows, radio and TV.

Regarding Letterman's ignorance in Mel's milieu, a famous Foghorn Leghorn quote comes to mind:

"There's something kinda eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwweehh about a boy who's never played baseball."
