Why not check the video out from the beginning when RR is leaning on the pole. He SPITS on her first and she gives him a little backhand towards his mouth... He then gets on an EMPTY elevator and immediately crowds he to intimidate her... It looks to me like she pushes him away and he strikes her once... She then comes back and he knocks her out...

Having said all that, would it really matter if he was defending himself? I have an answer for that... GRAB HER and control her but don’t KNOCK her out...

There is no excuse for knocking her out. Never hit a woman. Especially if you are capable of knocking her out cold. If you can't walk away there are other options.

Had a man hit Rice and then Rice turned around and knocked him out, it would still be considered assault.

There were ways he could have reacted that would NOT have knocked her out.
